Mee Udang Teluk Kumbar might be another dish you might want to try after sampling all the famous dishes Penang has to offer. You will be dissapointed because it is just hype.I've tried many outlets selling this dish and most have fallen short of expectations and cannot measure up to their other more well known cousins.
1. The noodle is not cooked enough. They just celup once or twice with water that's not hot enough I think.Once you get home it will start to swell in your tum and you will feel ill and jelak at the same time when it starts to bloat
2. Sauce tastes more of lime juice than udang.I feel as if I am having light red coloured pickle sauce cum mee jawa sauce with prawn on top and garnishing on the side
3. Prawn is tiger prawn.Tiger prawn like any other farmed seafood does not possess the full flavour to enhance this dish and make it taste better. That's why the dish tastes more of lime than prawn
4.Cabbage is almost raw.Just makes matters worse.
5.Only the sambal is exciting and presentation attractive
6. All that for RM$6.50 a plate is expensive!
